Hospitality & Restaurant Print

Restaurant print is decided by how the item is used. A menu a waiter carries and wipes down all service is synthetic Yupo polymer, tear-proof and oil-resistant, and it survives the service cycle that destroys a laminated paper menu. The presentation tier is the 1500 GSM leatherette binder with a Chicago screw-post spine, which holds loose inserts so one item change means reprinting a single page.

High-volume table print is disposable. Greaseproof food kraft is the certified grease-resistant sheet that goes under a burger or a basket. Absorbent pulpboard at 1.5mm is the coaster that pulls the condensation off a cold glass. Both are consumables, and both are priced by the thousand.

Yupo is a polypropylene sheet, not paper. It has no fiber, so it does not absorb water, does not tear by hand, and does not go limp when wet. A Yupo menu can run a full service, be wiped with sanitizer, and come out usable. A laminated paper menu fails at the corners, where the lamination lifts and the paper swells.

Pulpboard thickness is the whole story on a coaster. At 1.5mm there is enough raw fiber to hold the moisture a cold glass leaves behind, which keeps the table dry. A thinner coaster saturates through and sticks to the glass when you lift it.

Menu work is a two-stage job. Covers and inserts are produced separately, then assembled. Yupo inserts print, cut to size, and punch for the screw post. Leatherette covers are cut, wrapped, and the posts are set by hand.

Disposables run on volume. Placemats and coasters print in bulk and ship in cartons, which is where the unit price comes down. Every menu insert is checked at 300 DPI in CMYK before it plates.
