An admissions flyer gets about two seconds. It is pinned to a school gate or tucked under a car wiper, and it is either kept or dropped. So this is a high-volume piece, specified to bring the unit cost down to a level where it can be handed out freely.
What this specification does on press
- 130 GSM gloss art paper is the standard flyer weight. Heavy enough to hold a clean fold and survive a day in a bag, light enough that 5,000 pieces still travel on a courier.
- Full-colour 4/4 offset means complete process colour on both sides. For a school, this is where the campus photographs do the persuading. Leaving the reverse unprinted wastes half the sheet.
- A5 is the largest practical handout size. It fits a jacket pocket, a car visor and a standard press sheet with very little waste.
- At 5,000 pieces the job goes on a sheet-fed offset press, and the per-sheet cost drops sharply once the plates are made. The first thousand carry the setup. The last four thousand are nearly free.
Decisions to make before you order
- Put the deadline and one contact method above the fold. On a handout, anything below the fold is a gamble.
- Photograph the real facilities. Stock imagery reads as stock, and parents check.
- If these are going under car wipers, tell us. Gloss art paper is light enough to blow away, so we would look at a heavier weight or a windscreen-safe fold.
