Reflective vinyl exists to be seen, not to decorate. It is read by a driver or a passer-by in low light, so the media is the whole point of the product. Engineer-grade stock, contour-cut to the shape of the artwork and rated for outdoor use.
What this specification does on press
- Engineer-grade reflective vinyl is the entry tier of the reflectivity standards. Its surface sends light back toward the source, so a decal lit by headlights or a street lamp appears lit from where you are standing, even when the surface itself is dark.
- Contour die-cut means the decal is cut to the shape of the artwork rather than to a rectangle. There is no visible carrier border. The shape is the graphic.
- Custom sizes up to 48″ cover a full façade or shopfront window in one piece, and seams on a reflective surface catch the light differently and show.
- A 3-year outdoor rating is the media’s rated life under weather and UV exposure. Past that window the adhesive and the reflectivity both degrade, which makes this a scheduled replacement rather than a failure.
Decisions to make before you order
- Reflective media does not read well in daylight photographs, because it is designed for low light. If the decal is for a daytime brand shot, plan the artwork colour separately from the reflectivity.
- Confirm the surface. Reflective vinyl needs a smooth, sealed substrate. Applied to rough or unpainted render it traps air at the peaks and lifts.
- Choose the adhesive deliberately. Permanent for a fixed façade, removable for a leased shopfront where the glass has to be handed back clean.
